Every year Richmond Ballet’s The Nutcracker provides students of the School of Richmond Ballet with the opportunity to perform with the professional company. Richmond Ballet’s The Nutcracker  casts between 100 and 150 students, ages 7 and older, in a variety of roles. Participation in The Nutcracker is an exciting and rewarding experience for young dancers, and continues to foster their love of ballet. Young dancers perform as party children, baby mice, baby lambs, toy soldiers, and more. Students must audition to be considered for a role in The Nutcracker. Students must be registered students of the School of Richmond Ballet or members of Richmond Ballet’s Minds in Motion Team XXL to audition. Auditions are held after the start of the School of Richmond Ballet’s Fall Semester in September. More information on the audition date for The Nutcracker 2008 will be available in August.

Important Dates for The Nutcracker Student Cast:

NOTE:  Detailed weekend rehearsal schedules will continue to be posted at the Richmond Ballet and emailed to parents each week.  The following dates are important dates that are in addition to, or do not coincide with, the regular weekend rehearsal schedule, but were noted in the Information Packet distributed before auditions.  Notice of these dates will be posted at the Richmond Ballet and emailed to parents as well.

November 8-  Parent Meeting for Tour Cast (Clara and Party Children only)

November 20-  Thursday evening Put-Together rehearsal (Act/roles TBA)

November 22 and 23-  Mandatory Parent meeting for all Student Cast members (Meeting times will be assigned by role)

November 25-  Tuesday evening Put-together rehearsal (Act/roles TBA)

November 29-  Tour Cast ONLY Put-Together rehearsal

November 30-  ALL CASTS Put-Together rehearsal

December 2-  ALL CASTS Put-Together rehearsal

December 9-  Tuesday evening @ Landmark Theatre:  ALL CASTS Act II only (Cooks, Angels, Lambs, Chinese, Mother Ginger, Clara and Prince)

December 10-  Wedenesday evening @ Landmark Theatre:  ALL CASTS Act I only (Clara, Prince, Party Children, Baby Mice, All Soldiers, Dolls)

December 11-  Thursday evening @ Landmark Theatre:  Dress Rehearsal Cast A (final casting TBA)

December 12- Friday morning @ Landmark Theatre:  Dress Rehearsal Cast B (final casting TBA)

December 12 thru 23-  The Nutcracker @ Landmark Theatre
