Richmond Ballet welcomes new Development Director
RICHMOND — The generosity of individuals and businesses within the Richmond community enables Richmond Ballet to
produce exceptional dance programs each year.
Serving as The State Ballet of Virginia requires a strong development
team to encourage the community’s support.
Enter Susan
Coogan, Richmond Ballet’s newly appointed development director, poised to help
one of the top mid-sized ballet companies in America obtain the funding necessary
to fulfill its mission to “awaken and uplift the human spirit, both for
audiences and dancers.”
A native, Coogan brings considerable
insight into not-for-profit development by drawing on her diverse experience. Most recently, Coogan chaired the St. Catherine's
School Board of Governors. During her tenure the board completed a $25 million
capital and endowment campaign.
Coogan also served
as the donor services officer at The Community Foundation Serving Richmond and Central Virginia. She
volunteered as president of the Theatre IV Board of Directors and the board president
of Kidspace Children’s Museum in Pasadena, Calif.
Prior to her work in the not-for-profit
sector, Coogan had a successful career in the field of investment banking.
A graduate of
Hollins University with a degree in economics, Coogan holds an MBA from the prestigious Colgate
Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia.
Richmond Ballet looks
forward to enhancing its artistic, training, outreach and education initiatives
with this welcome addition to the Richmond Ballet family.
###
Richmond Ballet, The State Ballet of
Virginia, is dedicated to the education, promotion, preservation and continuing
evolution of the art form of ballet. Richmond Ballet strives
to keep meaningful works of dance alive and to produce and foster new works
that remain true to these values. Now in
its 24th professional season,
Richmond Ballet's mission is to "awaken and uplift the human spirit, both for
audiences and artists."
